Buyr-Nuur
a lake in the east of the Mongolian People’s Republic, partly in China. It lies in a flat steppe sink at an elevation of 583 m. Area, 610 sq km; maximum depth, 11 m. The shores are flat and weakly indented. The bottom is sandy, muddy, and in places rocky. The lake freezes over from November to May. Buyr-Nuur receives a branch of the Khalkhin-Gol River; the Orchun-Gol flows out of Lake Buyr-Nuur into Lake Dalainor. It is rich in fish.
