Established: Authorized on September 21, 1950.
Location:Along the Saint Johns River, 13 miles east of downtown Jacksonville, Florida. Memorial is a unit of Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve (see separate entry).
Facilities:Picnic area, rest rooms (é), visitor center (é), museum/exhibit, self-guided tour/trail.
Activities:Hiking, guided tour.
Special Features:Two centuries of French and Spanish colonial rivalry in North America began here with the establishment of a French Huguenot settlement in 1564-1565.
