Question
Country: United States of AmericaState: FloridaMy story is as following. My exboyfriend and I had agreed to remain friends; he offered to help me financially and changed his mind at the last moment. He told me that he would help me either by paying part of the rent so that I could remain in the current apartment I am in or to help me by giving me money to move out. However about a week or two ago, he changed his mind and refused to help me in any way at all and the lease is almost up. I understand that he is not required to help me but I had been counting on it and now I don't have money to move out, except for the check he gave me in my name to be used to pay the rent for the month. Is there a way that I can take it and use the money to move out or could it backfire and he could claim that I took the money under false pretenses.
Answer
You can sue him in small claims if you relied on the agreement; you should not take any other funds...Question
