Fort Foster State Historic Site
Location:Fort is part of Hillsborough River State Park (see separate entry) but is located on the east side of US 301 from the park.
Facilities:Interpretive center at Hillsborough River State Park has exhibits about the fort.
Activities:Guided tours (weekends only); interpretive programs at the Ranger Station at Hillsborough River State Park.
Special Features:Fort Foster is a replica wood picket style fortconstructed on the site of the original fort, which was one of theSeminole War forts constructed during the early 1800s.
