convergence factor
convergence factorThe ratio of the angle between any two meridians on the chart to their actual change of longitude. See also convergence.convergence factor
convergence factor[kən′vər·jəns ‚fak·tər] (mapping) For a specific chart or map projection, the factor which, when multiplied by the difference of longitude between points on two meridians, will give the convergence of the meridians. Also known as convergence constant. convergence factorThe ratio of earth convergence to a change of latitude. It is zero at the equator and maximum at the poles. Earth convergence is the angular difference between adjacent meridians at a particular position. See convergency (ii). |
