Bykhovskii, Bernard Emmanuilovich

 

Born Aug. 31 (Sept. 12), 1898, in Bobruisk. Soviet philosopher; doctor of philosophy (1941); professor (1929). Member of the CPSU since 1920.

Since 1923, Bykhovskii has conducted pedagogical and scholarly work in the field of dialectic materialism and the history of Western European philosophy and contemporary foreign philosophy. He is the author of one of the first Soviet textbooks of dialectic materialism (Essay on the Philosophy of Dialectic Materialism, 1930). He was awarded the State Prize of the USSR (1944) for his participation in the creation of the History of Philosophy (1940-43).
