Chain-Making Machine, Automatic

Chain-Making Machine, Automatic

a production line for the manufacture of round-link chains, consisting of automatic linking, welding, and gauging machines. Chain is fabricated from round wire by cold bending (for wire diameters up to 25 mm) or preheating (for diameters up to 38 mm); the ends are then welded. The automatic chain-bending machine bends and joins the links; it is equipped with mechanisms that feed the wire through a stationary cutoff die, cut it off, and bend it on a mandrel. The chain-welding machine welds the link ends. The chain is then gauged, subjected to a test load, and stamped by the gauging machine.
