Byrne, David

(1952– ) musician; born in Dunbarton, Scotland. Moving to Landsdowne, Md., at age six, he became a guitarist and songwriter as a teenager. He attended the Rhode Island School of Design, where in 1975 he founded the so-called postmodern rock group, Talking Heads, with three classmates. Beginning in 1983, he became involved in a variety of film and music projects as an actor, director, producer, and ethnomusicologist.
