Bystritskaia, Elina Avraamovna
Born Apr. 4, 1928, in Kiev. Soviet Russian actress. Became People’s Artist of the RSFSR in 1966. Member of the CPSU since 1970.
In 1953, Bystritskaia graduated from the department of acting at the Kiev Institute of Dramatic Arts. She worked in the Vilnius Russian Theater. Since 1958 she has been in the company of the Malyi Theater. Her roles include Margaret (Wilde’s Lady Windermere’s Fan), Baronness Shtral’ (Lermontov’s Masquerade), and Iuliia Filippovna (Gorky’s Summer Folk). She began making films in 1951. Her roles include Elizaveta Maksimovna (An Unfinished Tale, 1955), Aksin’ia (Quiet Don, after Sholokhov, 1957-58), Lelia (Volunteers, 1958), and Kseniia Rumiantseva (Everything Is Left to People, 1963). She has been awarded two orders, as well as medals.
