bZIPprotein

bZIPprotein

A protein which contains a basic leucine zipper domain, which constitute a class of transcription factors (e.g., C/ERP, Fos, Jun, GCN4) that regulate the expression of many different genes in plants, fungi and animals; bZIP protein activities are determined by recognition of specific DNAsequences, and by the stability and specificity with which the protein dimers are formed.
