a rhythmic unity in iambic or trochaic meter formed by combining two metric feet, one of which bears the stronger rhythmic stress while the other seems to be secondary. An example of dipody in which the second foot is stronger is Lermontov’s lines

Bĕz rŭliá ĭ ǀ bĕz vĕtril.

Dipody in which the first foot is stronger is exemplified in the lines from Pushkin
