Dossor

an urban-type settlement, administrative center of the Makat Raion, Gur’ev Oblast, Kazakh SSR. Population, 8,000 (1970). Dossor is the site of a railway station on the Gur’ev-Kandagach (Oktiabr’sk) line 95 km northeast of Gur’ev. The settlement was one of the first oil-producing centers in the Emba oil region—oil was discovered there in 1911. It has an automobile repair plant.
