Egor Agarkov

Agarkov, Egor Prokof’evich

Born June 15, 1912. A worker and initiator of new work methods during World War II. A member of the CPSU since 1943.

In December 1944, Agarkov proposed combining small brigades and sections of the Ural armored body plant, thereby freeing some of the workers and part of the technical engineering personnel. As leader of the youth team, Agarkov combined two brigades and improved the division of labor. Two team leaders, three masters, and two qualified workers were freed as a result of his plan. He introduced a production line for assembly and electric welding which raised the production rate sharply. Agarkov’s innovation spread quickly, first to tanks and then to all branches of machine building. In four months’ time more than 6,000 technical engineers, office personnel, and qualified workers were released and directed to other enterprises in the tank industry alone. Agarkov was awarded the Order of Lenin and, in 1946, the State Prize of the USSR.
