Beliakov, Ivan

Born June 14 (26), 1897, in Moscow; died there Jan. 21, 1967. Soviet cameraman. Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR (1950).

Beliakov was in motion pictures from 1919. In 1922 he graduated from the First State Motion Picture School. He worked under the director D. Vertov in the Kinoki Society. Thereafter, as a cameraman, he took part in the filming of March On, Soviet! (1926); Sixth of the World (1926); Oil (1927); The Day of the President (Kalinin, 1937); and other movies. During World War II, Beliakov, either on his own or together with other cameramen, filmed Our Moscow (1941) and The Defeat of the Germans “Near Moscow (1942). In the 1940’s and 1950’s he filmed The Crimean Conference and Victory Parade (both in 1945); All-Union Parade of Athletes of 1947; May First, 1949; The Cotton Growers of Uzbekistan (1959), and others. Recipient of the State Prize of the USSR in 1942, 1943, 1948, and 1950, he was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Badge of Honor, and also medals.
