Cold-insoluble globulin

FN1

A gene on chromosome 2q34 that encodes fibronectin, a glycoprotein present as a soluble dimer in plasma, and as a dimer or multimer on cell surfaces and in extracellular matrices. It plays central roles in cell adhesion and motility as required in embryogenesis, wound healing, blood coagulation, opsonisation, host defence, maintenance of cell shape and metastasis. It binds to collagen, fibrin, heparin, DNA and actin.
