Health fraud
A drug derived from cyclohexane-based hexylene oxides, which was claimed in clinical trials to assist in a patient’s recovery from AIDS. FLV 23-A was used to treat children infected with HIV-1 in Romania; the trials were halted when the manufacturer failed to provide data regarding the drug’s chemical formula, mechanism of action, safety, and efficacy.
