Chang, Kwang-Chih

Chang, Kwang-Chih

(1931– ) anthropologist, archaeologist; born in Beijing, China. He came to the U.S.A. in 1955, earned a Ph.D. at Harvard, and taught at Yale (1961–77) and Harvard (1977). A specialist in Far East Asian prehistory, he wrote important works including The Archaeology of Ancient China (1963, frequently revised), The Chinese Bronze Age (2 vols. 1983–90), and Shang Civilization (1980).
