Collargolum

 

(Argentum colloidale), a medicinal preparation consisting of small bluish-black disks that dissolve in water to form a colloidal solution. They contain 70 percent silver. They are used in the form of solutions for irrigating purulent wounds, the urinary bladder in cystitis and urethritis, and the eyes (in drop form) in conjunctivitis. They are sometimes used in the form of an ointment in erysipelas.
