[′fȯrs ‚bal·əns ‚mēd·ər] (engineering) A flowmeter that measures a force, such as that associated with the air pressure in a small bellows, that is required to balance the net force created by the differential pressure, on opposite sides of a diaphragm or diaphragm capsule, generated by a differential-producing primary device.
