Coordinatograph

an instrument for plotting points on a map rapidly and precisely on the basis of their rectangular coordinates. It consists of a frame to which a ruler with divisions representing the axis of the abscissas is tightly attached. A carriage moves along the axis of the abscissas, carrying a ruler corresponding to the ordinate axis. A small carriage bearing a needle for punching holes moves along the ordinate axis. In addition, the automatic electronic coordinatograph has a computing device and control console. This system makes it possible to plot junction points and to automatically mark or cut the coordinate lines of the grid, using the results of computations of rectangular coordinates on the computing device.
