Cadets

(1) In feudal France and Prussia young members of the nobility in military service with soldier ranks and children of the feudal aristocracy enlisted in military service prior to receiving their commission as officers.

(2) In prerevolutionary Russia and various other states fromthe 18th to early 20th century, the name given to those studyingin the cadet corps.
