Collation Map
Collation Map
a map in which a diagrammatic figure is used to show the total magnitude (and sometimes also the structure and dynamics) of a certain statistical index within each unit of the territorial division shown on the map. For example, a collation map may show the size of the population and its structure for countries, regions, and districts, the gross output of industry and its growth in a certain period, the area of farm land, or the area of forests and differentiation by species. It is important to remember that a collation map does not represent the true location of the phenomenon (population, forests, and so on)within individual territorial units.
