Location:South of Seward; accessible by boat or on foot via the Coastal Trail.(Flooding in Seward during the month of October 2006 caused extensivetrail damage at this SRA.)
Facilities:Camping area, cabins, toilets, trails, picnic sites, picnic shelters, historical features.
Activities:Camping, fishing, hiking.
Special Features:Terrain features a massive headland rising 650 feet above ResurrectionBay, against a backdrop of rolling alpine meadows and sharp peaks. Parkis the site of Fort McGilvray, an abandoned World War II fort, andother historical military structures. (Early in World War II, theterritory of Alaska was attacked and occupied by Imperial Japaneseground forces, so Caines Head and other Resurrection Bay vantagesbecame strategic spots for defending the Port of Seward.)
