Dzeglis Dadeba

a law code for the mountaineers of Eastern Georgia compiled at a specially convened legislative assembly during the reign of King George V in 1335. Consisting of 45 articles, the Dzeglis Dadeba is devoted mainly to criminal law. It prescribes harsh penalties for opposition to representatives of royal authority and to feudal lords. The code reflects the presence of communal relations and of clan feuding among the mountaineers and attests to the aspirations of the Georgian feudal lords to subjugate the free population of the mountain regions.
