Cajuput Tree

 

(Melaleuca leucadendron), an evergreen tree of the family Myrtaceae, with white bark and more or less vertical leaves. It grows in the forests of northern and northwestern Australia and in Asia (Indochina and Indonesia) and is often cultivated. Cajuput oil, which is an essential oil, is made from the leaves and young branches; it is used in dentistry and as an antiseptic. Cajuput oil is colorless or yellowish, smells of camphor, and contains cineole, a-terpineol and its esters, and other substances.
