Dzhezdy

(until 1962, Marganets), an urban-type settlement, administrative center of the Dzhezdy Raion, Dzhezkazgan Oblast, Kazakh SSR. Dzhezdy is the final station on a branch line, 61 km from Dzhezkazgan. Population, 7,000 (1970). Manganese ore is mined and refined in Dzhezdy.
