Name Origin: For Charlotte Harbor, possibly originally named for the Calusa tribe of southwestern FL, which the Spanish corrupted to Carlos or Calos. The name was later changed by English surveyors to honor Charlotte Sophia (1744-1818), wife of King George III of England
