Nilova, Agrafena Vasil’evna

 

Born 1913, in the village of Zhiriatino, in present-day Sudislavl’ Raion, Kostroma Oblast; died Jan. 24, 1958, in the settlement of Karavaevo, Kostroma Raion, Kostroma Oblast. Sovkhoz production innovator, decorated twice as Hero of Socialist Labor (1948, 1951); member of the CPSU from 1940.

In 1931, Nilova became a milkmaid at the Karavaevo Sovkhoz in Kostroma Raion, Kostroma Oblast. During the period 1941–45, the milk yield from each of the cows assigned to her exceeded 6,000 kg per year; in 1947 it was 6,784 kg, in 1948 it reached 7,045 kg, and in 1950 it rose to 7,501 kg. From some animals she received more than 10,000 kg of milk in a single lactation period. She was awarded four Orders of Lenin and various medals.
