Girka

(Russian, pendant), a figured architectural detail, usually in the form of a small inverted pyramid of brick or stone.

A gir’ka is suspended from an iron rod hidden in the structural masonry and serves to support two small decorative arches, usually situated under a large arch that joins them. Gir’ki were widely used in Russian architecture of the 16th and 17th centuries in decorating gates, porticoes, and window apertures.
