goodness of fit n (Statistics) statistics the extent to which observed sample values of a variable approximate to values derived from a theoretical density, often measured by a chi-square test goodness of fit
goodness of fit[¦gu̇d·nəs əv ′fit] (statistics) The degree to which the observed frequencies of occurrence of events in an experiment correspond to the probabilities in a model of the experiment.
