Germanotype Tectonics

a type of folded structure within relatively mobile sections of platforms (particularly young platforms) characterized by the development of box or graben-like folds often complicated by faults or upthrusts. It is typically a combination of horsts with anticlines and grabens with synclines and is the opposite of the alpine tectonics of geosynclines. The deformations of the Permian-Mesozoic sedimentary mantle in the north of the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic serve as an example of germanotype structures.
