Gorbatov

a city in Gorky Oblast, RSFSR. A landing on the Oka River, 15 km north of the Vorsma railroad station (on the Gorky-Pavlovo branch). It is an old center of rope and cord production. It has a rope and cord factory and a dairy plant and produces folding knives and embroidered articles. The city has vacation homes, and horticulture (mainly cherries) is well developed. Gorbatov has been known since the 16th century; it became a city in 1779.
