Stars of spectral type F that are white with a surface temperature (T eff) of about 6000 to 7400 kelvin. The hydrogen lines in the spectrum weaken rapidly and the lines of ionized calcium (Ca II, H and K) strengthen from F0 to F9; there are many lines of neutral and singly ionized metals and heavy atoms.
