excessive response of target tissues to glucocorticoids; a rare mysterious syndrome of unknown etiology and a state that has been associated with manifestations of the metabolic syndrome (obesity, insulin resistance, carbohydrate intolerance, Type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, dyslipidemia, or blood dyscoagulation) and the AIDS-associated lipodystrophyinsulin resistance syndrome.
