释义 | Fucales
FucalesFucales[fyü′kā·lēz]Fucalesan order of brown algae of the class Cyclosporeae. The thalli are bushy and measure 0.1 to 2 m long (less commonly, to 10 m); they have cylindrical or flat branches marked by apical growth. Fucales differ from other algae in development cycle. The thalli are diploid sporophytes, in which develop, from special solitary cells (spores), diploid gametophytes in the form of a layer of special cavities, or conceptacles. There is meiosis with gameto-genesis. The oogoniums have one to eight egg cells. In some species that have a single egg cell, fertilization and the early stages of development occur on the maternal plant. Reproduction by fragments of thalli results in plants that are unable to form organs of attachment and reproduction. There are about 300 species, making up 40 genera. The three principal families are Fucaceae, Cystoseiraceae, and Sargassa-ceae. The algae grow in all seas except in the Aral and the Caspian. The USSR has 21 species belonging to seven genera. The algae are used in the production of alginates, feed meal, and fertilizers; some species are used as food. IU. E. PETROV Fucales
