In the town of Truth or Consequences, the Geronimo Trail Visitors Center and Geronimo Springs Museum offers information and exhibits on Geronimo and localhistory. Other areas of interest along the byway include Elephant Butte Lake State Park, Emory Pass Vista, Gila National Forest, and the historic communities of San Lorenzo, Kingston, Hillsboro, Cuchillo, and Winston.
Legth: 154 miles Start/Endpoint: The horseshoe-shaped byway runs from Beaverhead to San Lorenzo, New Mexico. From its midpoint at Truth or Consequences, the southern section follows NM 187 south to NM 152, then through Emory Pass in the Black Range Mountains, winding down to the village of San Lorenzo. The northern route from Truth or Consequences includes small sections of NM 51, NM 179, and NM 181, then follows NM 52 to NM 59, then 31 miles along NM 59 to the Beaverhead Ranger Station. Time to Allow: 13 hours, including backtracking. Designation/Year: National Scenic Byway (2005).
