Gavasai
also Gava, lavazarsai, or Katta-Boztekesai, a river in the Kirghiz SSR and the Uzbek SSR. Length, about 96 km. Basin area, 724 sq km. It rises on the southern slope of the Chatkal Range. As it leaves the mountains below the village of Gava, the river divides into branches which flow into the Northern Fergana Canal. It is fed by snow and glacial ice. The waters of the Gavasai are used extensively for irrigation.
