Berezovka

an urban-type settlement in Emel’ianovo Raion, Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR, on the right bank of the Enisei River 5 km below Krasnoiarsk. Population, 13,500 (1968). Machine-repair and reinforced-concrete goods, and furniture are manufactured in Berezovka. There is a hothouse sovkhoz as well as a broiler factory.

a city (until 1962, a settlement); administrative center of Berezovka Raion, Odessa Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Located on the Tiligul River. Railroad station. Population, 11,700 (1968). There is a creamery, a winery, and a calibration plant. Berezovka has a history and local-lore museum.

an urban-type settlement in Lida Raion, Grodno Oblast, Byelorussian SSR, 12 km from the Neman railroad station (on the Lida-Baranovichi line). Population, 5,400 (1968). There is a glass factory in Berezovka.

an urban-type settlement in Komi ASSR, on the right bank of the Kozhva River (a tributary of the Pechora), 9 km from the Kamenka railroad station (on the Kotlas-Vorkuta line). Population, 3,400 (1968). There is a lumber yard.

a river in the Yakut ASSR; right tributary of the Kolyma. Length, 517 km; basin area, 24,800 sq km. Flows in a broad valley through the Iukagir plateau. It is fed primarily by rain and is icebound from October until mid-May. About 2,000 lakes are located in the Berezovka basin. The river is used for floating timber. At the beginning of the 20th century the body of a mammoth was found in the bed of the Berezovka; it was subsequently brought to St. Petersburg.
