释义 | Fuller, Henry BlakeFuller, Henry Blake (Stanton Page, pen name)(1857–1929) writer; born in Chicago. He was educated at local Chicago schools before beginning his travels in Europe. After his father's death (1885), he returned to Chicago. Influenced by the contrast between European and American cultures, he wrote both romantic novels, such as The Chevalier of Pensieri-Vani (1890), and realistic works, such as The Cliff-Dwellers: A Novel (1893), a scathing commentary on Chicago's apartment-dwelling social climbers. He also wrote satiric verses attacking President McKinley, a travelogue, Gardens of This World (1929), and plays. |
