Glukhovskii Cotton Combine

(full name, V. I. Lenin Glukhovskii Cotton Combine), one of the largest and oldest textile enterprises in the USSR; located in Noginsk (Moscow Oblast). It was created on the basis of the Bogorodsko-Glukhovskii Factory, founded in 1847 by the manufacturer Z. S. Morozov.

The combine has two spinning factories, three weaving factories, a thread factory, two finishing factories, and a mechanical foundry. The combine produces up to 300 million m of finished fabrics for technical and domestic use annually. The Glukhovskii Factory is well known for its revolutionary traditions; as early as 1900 underground revolutionary organizations had been formed there. Such famed revolutionaries as I. V. Babushkin, V. P. Nogin, and A. G. Zhelezniakov (Zhelezniak) came from the ranks of the Glukhovskii textile workers.

Under Soviet power the productive capabilities of the combine have increased dramatically: a combing factory, a new wing of the weaving factory, a cotton printing mill, and a spinning-thread factory have been constructed. In 1970 the production of fabrics rose to more than 4.2 times the 1913 level. The combine has been awarded the Order of Lenin (1949) and the Order of the October Revolution (1971).
