Full-Length Log

Log, Full-Length

(Russian, khlyst), the trunk of a felled tree whose roots and branches have been removed. The trunk is cleaned and the tops are removed at the felling site, at the upper or lower woodyards of lumbering enterprises (seeWOODYARD), or, in some regions, at the sawmills. The logs are sorted by size and quality and cut into round sections for the manufacture of lumber, crossties, veneer, pitprops, cellulose, particle board, fiberboard, and other products.
