glide-slope-intercept altitude glide-slope-intercept altitudeThe minimum altitude of an intermediate approach segment prescribed for precision approach that assures obstacle clearance. It is the minimum altitude to intercept the glide-slope or glide path on a precision approach. The intersection of the published intercept altitude with the glide-slope or path, designated on charts by the lightning bolt symbol, is the precision FAF (final approach fix). However, when air traffic control (ATC) directs a lower altitude, the resultant lower intercept position becomes the FAF. |
