good samaritan act good samaritan act As defined by the MDU (Medical Defence Union), the largest carrier for medical indemnity insurance in the UK, the provision of clinical services related to a clinical emergency, accident or disaster when the doctor is not present in his/her professional capacity but as a bystander. The General Medical Council states in its booklet Good Medical Practice: “In an emergency, wherever it may arise, you must offer anyone at risk the assistance you could reasonably be expected to provide.” |
