Glacial Complex

the aggregate of regularly arranged glacial landforms and glacial deposits that have formed at the terminal part of a glacier.

The glacial complex consists of the terminal moraine line which borders the end of the glacier and which is abutted on the external side by glaciofluvial deposits. These deposits form frontal aprons which give way to strips of terraced river valley gravel beds. On the inner side the terminal moraine is abutted by a hilly morainic plain that was previously occupied by the terminus of the glacier. Here at times lies an enclosed basin (tongue-like basin) that has filled with water and become a lake.
