(Voice of the Motherland), a newspaper issued by the Soviet Committee on Cultural Ties With Compatriots Abroad. Published twice a week in Moscow from April 1955 (until 1960 it came out under the title Za voz-vrashchenie na Rodinu [For Returning to the Motherland]). Intended for Russian emigrants; distributed in 83 capitalist countries.
Golos Rodiny acquaints readers abroad with the achievements of communist construction in the USSR, elucidates the peace-loving foreign policy of the Soviet Union, tells about the Soviet way of life, popularizes the work experience of progressive organizations of compatriots abroad, and publishes material exposing the activities of anti-Soviet emigrant organizations. It is accompanied by a monthly supplement on literature and art, entitled Otchizna.
