Gennadii Fedorov
Fedorov, Gennadii Aleksandrovich
Born Aug. 5 (18), 1909, in the village of Troitsko-Pechorsk, in what is now the Komi ASSR. Soviet Komi writer. Member of the CPSU from 1946.
Fedorov graduated from the M. Gorky Institute of Literature in 1940. He took part in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–45. Fedorov was the author of the novella A Country Morning (1932), which deals with the beginning of collectivization. His later novellas were In the Days of the War (1952) and Mariika (1960). In his novel At Dawn (parts 1–3, 1959–62; Russian translation, When Daybreak Comes, 1966), he recreated the character of Domna Kalikova, a heroine of the Civil War.
Fedorov has been awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and various medals.
