Gdańsk, Gulf of
an inlet of the Baltic Sea on the coast of the USSR and Poland. Length, 74 km; entry width, 107 km; depth, up to 115 m. Salinity less than 8 parts per thousand. The Vistula River flows into the gulf. The Hel Spit separates the Puck Bay from the Gulf of Gdańsk in the northwest, and the Baltic Spit separates the Vistula Bay from the Gulf of Gdańsk in the southeast. Tides are mixed, with a height of less than 0.1 m. The ports are Gdynia and Gdańsk in Poland and Baltiisk in the USSR.
