back-to-back pattern back-to-back pattern A soft histologic feature of well-differentiated adenocarcinomas that separates them from premalignant hyperplasia or atypical lesions. When glands are so arranged, the intervening stroma—and by extension, the basement membrane—disappears, a finding typical of gastrointestinal, endometrial and ovarian adenocarcinomas. |
