a local milk goat raised in Gorky Oblast.
The Gorky goat is distinguished by its strong constitution and hardiness. The milk yield is 400–550 kg (maximum, 1,200 kg); fat content, 4.5–5 percent. The liveweight of the males is 50–60 kg (maximum, 75 kg), and of the females, 38–42 kg (maximum, 50 kg). The coat is predominantly white. The hair is short and consists mainly of guard hair, with a small amount of downy underfur. The wool clip is 250 g. The fertility is 200–220 kids per 100 females. The skins are of high quality and are used to make valuable types of leather.
