Winnecke, Friedrich August Theodor
Born Feb. 5, 1835, in Gross Heere, near Hildesheim; died Dec. 3, 1897, in Bonn. German astronomer.
From 1858 to 1865, Winnecke worked at the Pulkovo Observatory. From 1872 to 1882 he was director of the Strasbourg Observatory, which was built according to his plan. He worked on the determination of the parallax of the stars and sun and made observations on variable stars.
